The strong recommendation from Government supplemented with research and development on alternative energy, are encouraging people for using alternative energy for home use. People are also realizing the demerits of fossil fuels like higher cost and effect on the environment (like global warming). As per Carbon Free, Microgeneration will replace the conventional energy to a large extent. Like Internet changed the way we used to store data and communicate earlier, alternative energy will also change the way energy is used today for domestic purposes.
As reported by Carbon Free, many existing energy supplying companies, are exploring the possibility of turning micro generation into a profitable business proposition, to cover up the anticipated loss in future. These electricity companies in the UK are putting hefty sum of money in research and development of geothermal energy facilities, since it is believed to have the potential to become extremely profitable business in future.
Carbon Free also suggests, that installing solar energy heater is a gain in the long run, because of lower maintenance and running cost although the installation cost is very high.
However, solar power is yet to be proven cost-effective for the corporations, as they have to spend a lot of money to install specialized plumbing for implementing solar powered hot water heating technology. As per Carbon Free, popular alternative energy source like wind turbines also reduce the cost of home electricity and make people energy independent but high initial cost still remains the biggest disadvantage.
In order to promote alternate energy and gain the market share, the energy supplying companies need to work toward bringing down the cost of installation thus making it profitable for them, and affordable for their consumers.
