Green Alternative Energy Power Secrets: Alternative Energy Resources Explored

A repository of energy is waiting for us to harness provided we indulge ourselves in developing the technologies required for it. Alternative energy sources will help us to get rid of the conventional fossil fuel-based energy systems and the age-old electrical networks.

Wind power is one of prime source of alternative energy. New technologies are enabling the production of cheaper wind turbines that are more efficient in utilizing the resources. Many countries are adopting the idea of "Wind farms". The former wind turbines used to be dangerous to the birds but eventually the turbines installed today are placed strategically such that they no more pose any risk for the birds.

Solar energy is another substantial and popular source of alternative energy. Solar cells can absorb sunlight and efficiently convert the energy directly into electricity, and in some instances, in producing hot water. As the case with wind energy, solar energy also does not have any polluting effect, and the production process is also completely green.

Governments of different countries and the investors are banking greatly on another source of alternative energy, which is the energy generated from ocean wave. An ocean energy-producing generator in France is successfully functioning for quite some time now, and there are few experimental models working in Ireland and Scotland.

Energy generated from different hydroelectric sources are working efficiently in many areas and working out to be a cleaner and safer option. Since it is difficult to locate the right place for setting up a large dam for producing hydroelectric power, some small and localized hydroelectric power generator set-ups have been conceptualized in recent times.

Only a few miles below the earth's surface there is an abundant source of geothermal energy. The extremely hot liquefied core of earth heats the water underneath and, this action, in turn, generates energy in the form of hot water and steam. The heat turns the water into steam, and if utilized properly, this steam can drive turbine engines to produce electricity. A lot of research and developmental work is required to tap the geothermal energy in greater extent.

Energy developed from Methane, which is a form of waste gas energy, can be generated from the dumped waste materials and air pollutants by reversing the common energy pollution relationship. The standard gasoline generators can run using methane as fuel, and methane can also be used in fuel cells.

The fruits like grapes and strawberries and corn, wheat, sugarcane, wood chips and wood cellulose, and other vegetable fibers are the sources of Ethanol, which can work as a substitute of gasoline. Although there are doubts if this source of energy can at all be utilized in practical fields in a cost effective manner other than localized zones, the modification of the technologies used for its extraction is still continuing.

Biodiesel, which can be obtained from oil reach plants, can also work a considerable source for producing alternative energy. The rich vegetable oil sources like soybean, rapeseed, and sunflower are currently used for generating biodiesel. At the moment, people with entrepreneurial bend of mind is exploring the options from biodiesel, but slowly, the commercial establishments are increasingly getting interested in harnessing the potential of the biodiesel resources in a big way. Biodiesel is much better environmental friendly energy producer than oil-based conventional diesel.

Atomic energy is another kind of alternative energy, which has enormous potential to generate large amount of power. It is generated with the process of nuclear fusion in atomic energy plants. But people are concerned in managing the small amount of nuclear waste generated with the generation of the energy as the waste is radioactive in nature and takes even more than a century to decompose and to become risk free.
